Bahrain Bourse (BHB), the Kingdom’s licensed securities exchange regulated by the Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB), participated in the HSBC GCC Exchanges London Conference 2026, held from June 8 to 11.

The Bahraini delegation included Yusuf Al Yusef, Chairman of Bahrain Bourse; Shaikh Khalifa bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa, Chief Executive Officer of Bahrain Bourse; and representatives from Bahrain Bourse, HSBC Bahrain, Bapco Energies, and Aluminium Bahrain (Alba).

The conference brought together more than 300 institutional investors, over 100 Middle Eastern companies, and representatives from all seven GCC stock exchanges. More than 3,000 meetings were held during the event, making it the largest edition of the conference since its launch five years ago.

As part of the programme, Shaikh Khalifa bin Ebrahim participated in a panel discussion titled “Listings, Liquidity and Governance: Outlook for GCC Capital Markets.” The session examined opportunities to strengthen capital markets across the GCC through enhanced listings, improved liquidity, and stronger governance frameworks aimed at supporting sustainable growth and global competitiveness.

Speaking on the occasion, Yusuf Al Yusef said Bahrain Bourse’s participation reflects its commitment to positioning Bahrain as a competitive, transparent, and dynamic investment destination. He noted that the engagement supports the objectives of the recently launched Capital Market Development Plan 2026–2028, which focuses on diversifying market offerings, deepening liquidity, and enhancing operational efficiency.

Shaikh Khalifa bin Ebrahim highlighted the importance of the conference as a platform for engaging directly with international investors and promoting Bahrain’s evolving capital market landscape. He noted that Bahrain offers a compelling investment environment supported by a strong regulatory framework, a diversified economy, and a robust pipeline of development initiatives. He added that Bahrain Bourse aims to strengthen investor confidence, increase market visibility, and support the continued growth of the Kingdom’s capital market ecosystem.

Joseph Ghorayeb, Chief Executive Officer of HSBC Bahrain, said Bahrain’s advanced financial ecosystem, sound regulatory environment, and commitment to capital market development provide a solid foundation for long-term growth despite ongoing global market and geopolitical challenges. He noted that Bahrain Bourse’s “Elevate” strategy represents a significant step toward improving market liquidity, expanding investment opportunities, and increasing engagement with international investors through initiatives such as broadening the IPO pipeline, introducing new investment products, and enhancing digital market infrastructure.

On the sidelines of the conference, Bahrain’s delegation held a series of one-on-one meetings and roundtable discussions with leading global fund managers, asset managers, and capital market leaders. The discussions provided an opportunity to highlight Bahrain Bourse’s strategic initiatives, showcase investment opportunities in the Kingdom, and strengthen relationships with key international stakeholders.

Through its participation, Bahrain Bourse reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening links between Bahrain’s capital markets and the global investment community, while promoting the Kingdom as a leading regional financial hub and gateway to long-term growth opportunities.
