In the presence of Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak, Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, Muharraq Municipality signed an agreement with Batelco, part of Beyon, to operate and invest in 10 electronic advertising screen locations along Muharraq Ring Road for a five-year period.
The agreement was signed by Shaikh Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Undersecretary for Municipalities Affairs, and Maitham Abdullah, Chief Executive Officer of Batelco. The signing ceremony was attended by Abdulaziz Ahmed Al Na’ar, Chairman of the Muharraq Municipal Council, along with officials from the ministry and Batelco.
Al Mubarak said the agreement marks a significant step in developing municipal advertising assets and expanding the use of advanced technology in the advertising sector. He noted that the initiative supports the ministry’s efforts to strengthen partnerships with the private sector, accelerate digital transformation, improve municipal services, enhance the use of public assets, and promote sustainability.
Shaikh Mohammed bin Ahmed said the agreement would help improve the management and development of advertising sites, maximise investment opportunities, and keep pace with rapid changes in the advertising industry. He added that expanding the use of digital screens will provide more flexible and effective advertising solutions while improving services for beneficiaries.
Khalid Ali Al Qallaf, Director General of Muharraq Municipality, said the project forms part of the municipality’s strategy to increase the number of digital advertising screens and convert more traditional advertising locations into electronic formats. He noted that the initiative supports smart city objectives while offering advertisers greater flexibility and a wider range of options.
Maitham Abdullah said the agreement reflects Batelco’s commitment to supporting Bahrain’s digital transformation through innovative technologies and digital solutions. He added that the company aims to utilise its expertise to develop and operate the advertising sites according to the highest standards, enhancing operational efficiency and contributing to the Kingdom’s smart city ambitions.
