Bhavans Bahrain Indian School celebrated World Environment Day on June 4 with a series of creative and educational sustainability initiatives involving students across all grade levels.
Students participated in a variety of eco-friendly activities aimed at promoting environmental awareness and responsibility. Classes 1 and 2 created headbands and wind chimes using recycled materials, while students from Classes 3 to 5 crafted bird feeders to support wildlife and biodiversity.
Students of Classes 6 to 8 took part in the “Trash to Treasure” initiative, transforming waste materials into useful products. Senior students conducted a Tree Carbon Audit and participated in pledge-based activities promoting environmental protection.
Kindergarten students joined sapling-planting sessions and dressed as nature-themed characters during the “Earth Helpers” activity, spreading messages on cleanliness and conservation.
The campus was decorated with environmental posters and slogans, while plantation drives, vertical gardening, and a “No Plastic Lunch Day” reinforced the school’s commitment to sustainability.
BIS Directors Himanshu Verma and Ritu Verma, along with Principal Saji Jacob and Vice Principal Kripajah George, also planted saplings and encouraged students to continue working towards a greener future.
The celebration successfully inspired students to adopt environmentally conscious habits and highlighted the importance of collective action in protecting the planet.
