Bahrain’s hotel room capacity has passed 24,000 rooms, with nearly 140 hotels and resorts now operating across the kingdom, up from about 135 in October 2023.

The rise comes as 12 more five-star hotels are due to open, adding to the 39 five-star hotels and resorts already in Bahrain.

Tourism figures for 2025 showed more than 7.4 million overnight visitors. Overnight stays reached about 20.1 million, with January recording the highest monthly total at around 2.08 million nights.

The average stay stood at 2.76 nights, showing that visitors are staying for more than short weekend breaks. Hotels have also brought in guests through sport, entertainment, conferences and exhibitions held across the year.

The hotel market now stretches across Bahrain’s governorates and main tourist areas, with many of the world’s best-known hotel groups running much of the four- and five-star capacity.

Marriott International has one of the largest presences in the kingdom through Ritz-Carlton, Westin, Le Meridien and Autograph Collection. The Gulf Hotel has also joined Marriott’s Autograph Collection.

Accor is present through Sofitel, Novotel and Ibis, while Hilton runs Hilton and Hilton Garden Inn hotels, with more hotels in the pipeline.

IHG Hotels and Resorts operates InterContinental, Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn brands in Bahrain. Wyndham Hotels and Resorts is present through Wyndham Grand and Ramada.

Rotana and Melia Hotels International also run hotels and resorts in several tourist areas.

Among Bahrain’s luxury hotels are names such as Ritz-Carlton, Four Seasons, Sofitel, InterContinental, Westin, Le Meridien, Hilton and Art Rotana.

The growth in room capacity, the planned five-star openings and the rise in overnight stays show a hotel market still drawing further investment. Bahrain is bringing in visitors through business travel, events, shopping, dining and short breaks from nearby Gulf markets.
