Through seven sessions, the conference will discuss a range of topics, including “Breaking Barriers to Equality: Gender Stereotypes and Harmful Social Norms in the Spotlight,” “Advancing Equality Through Diversity: Addressing Intersecting Stereotypes and Norms,” and “Working Together Against Stereotypes and Harmful Norms.”
Additional sessions will address online stereotypes, violence, and misinformation targeting women in politics, as well as the role of gender-responsive parliaments in promoting societies free from stereotypes. Other discussions will focus on leadership and cultural change in combating stereotypes, in addition to enhancing the participation of women and youth in democratic processes.
The conference is expected to provide an important platform for women parliamentarians to exchange experiences and develop innovative joint strategies aimed at advancing gender equality, supporting women’s rights, and further strengthening women’s empowerment and political participation.
