Two women have been remanded in custody and referred to criminal court after allegedly offering a bribe to officials during a restaurant inspection in the Capital Governorate, the Public Prosecution said on Sunday.

According to prosecutors, the case began after inspectors from the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority identified violations at a restaurant in Umm Al Hassam.

As the inspectors were issuing a fine, the two accused women allegedly offered them money in exchange for halting legal action and withholding the violation report.

The inspectors immediately informed their supervisor and documented the incident. Police officers later arrived at the scene and completed the necessary procedures.

The Public Prosecution said it launched an investigation, during which authorities questioned the suspects and confronted them with evidence. Both women reportedly confessed to the allegation.
