Concerns over abandoned and dilapidated houses in Muharraq will be raised in Parliament during the upcoming session as lawmakers seek solutions to address neglected properties in residential areas.

The issue is being brought forward through a parliamentary question directed to the Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture regarding the continued presence of abandoned houses in the Fourth District of Muharraq Governorate.

Abandoned properties can present a range of challenges for surrounding neighbourhoods. In some cases, neglected buildings may pose safety concerns or become visually disruptive within residential communities.

MPs raising the issue say that addressing abandoned houses requires coordinated efforts between municipal authorities, property owners and relevant government agencies.

Possible measures discussed in similar cases include renovation, redevelopment or other solutions aimed at ensuring that properties do not remain unused for extended periods.

Lawmakers emphasise that maintaining safe and well-kept neighbourhoods is an important part of urban development and community wellbeing.

During the upcoming Parliament session, MPs are expected to review the government’s response and discuss potential approaches to improving conditions in areas affected by abandoned properties.
