Authorities Alert Public to Fraudulent “Legal Threat” Messages

Manama: The General Directorate of Anti‑Corruption and Economic and Electronic Security has issued a warning to citizens and residents about a fraudulent document circulating online that falsely claims to be issued by a security authority.

The document, which appears in an official format, threatens legal action against individuals over alleged “electronic activity.”

Authorities confirmed that the document is completely fabricated and has no connection to any official body. They said the scam is designed to spread fear and pressure victims into contacting the sender or transferring money.

The directorate urged the public not to respond to such messages or follow their instructions.

People are advised to ignore the messages entirely and avoid interacting with them in any way, including refraining from contacting any email addresses or phone numbers mentioned in the document.

Authorities also warned residents not to share personal or financial information under any circumstances.

Officials explained that such fraudulent tactics aim to trick victims into revealing sensitive information or sending money.

The directorate called on the public to report suspicious messages immediately through official channels to help protect the community and maintain cybersecurity.
