U.S. Embassy Issues Security Warning for Americans in Bahrain

Manama: The U.S. Embassy Manama has issued a new security alert urging United States citizens in Bahrain to remain cautious amid ongoing regional tensions and the threat of drone and missile attacks linked to Iran.

In its latest advisory released on March 2, the embassy warned that hotels in Manama could be potential targets. U.S. citizens have been encouraged to avoid hotels in the capital as a precaution.

The embassy also cautioned that terrorist groups and individuals inspired by such organisations may attempt attacks on U.S. citizens abroad, including in Bahrain. Officials said such attacks could happen with little or no warning.

Authorities urged residents and visitors to remain alert and follow safety instructions issued by local authorities.

What to Do in an Emergency

The embassy advised people to take immediate cover if they hear explosions or if warning sirens are activated.

Those inside buildings should move to the lowest level with the fewest windows or exterior walls and stay near an interior wall away from openings. People outdoors should seek shelter in a solid structure as quickly as possible. If no shelter is available, they should lie on the ground and cover their heads.

Officials also warned that even if missiles or drones are intercepted, falling debris can still pose a serious danger.

Safety Advice

The embassy encouraged U.S. citizens to stay aware of their surroundings, avoid demonstrations and large gatherings, and follow updates from official sources.

In case of emergencies in Bahrain, people can call 999 for assistance. U.S. citizens may also contact the embassy’s consular section for support.

The embassy also advised Americans to enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program, which allows travelers to receive security updates and helps officials contact them during emergencies.
