Pakistan-Bahrain chapter celebrates Engineers Day

The Institution of Engineers Pakistan Bahrain Chapter (IEP-BC) celebrated Engineers Day on Thursday at Capital Club, Manama, in which over 100 dignitaries including engineers and businessmen participated.

The celebrations were held under the patronage of Minister of Works,  Municipality Affairs and Urban Planning Essam Khalaf. Asst. Undersecretary Works Ministry Ebrahim Al Hawaj was the chief guest while HOC Pakistan Embassy Mohammed Ahad and Isa Abdul Rahim of Haffera Group were the guests of honour.

As part of the event, a new magazine Vision was launched and five outstanding engineers: Rehan Ahmed, Ijaz Ashraf, Unaiza Qamar, Ubaidullah Ruk and Muhammad Afzal Baig were recognized for their contributions in the field.

IEP-BC Chairman Qamar ul Hassan said it was established in 2002 and is closely affiliated with the Bahrain Society of Engineers (BSE). 

“There are 12 regional centres of IEP with over 50,000 members,” he said explaining, “Currently there are 17 disciplines while more will be introduced in on the basis of new developments in engineering and technology.”

Qamar said IEP-BC had been organising many technical programmes, presentations and lectures and other social programmes for its members and their families. 

“We have been circulating the IEP-BC magazines and newsletters to its members to keep them updated with the latest information on recent developments,” he added.

BSE President Masoud E. Al Hermi appreciated the role of IEP-BC and said both the organisations would go hand in hand with each other.  

The programme was attended by Prof. Dr. Shamsul Haque Alvi, Professor and Chairman, Department of Civil Engineering & Architecture, College of Engineering, University of Bahrain, who is bidding farewell to Bahrain after his long teaching carrier.
