A routine administrative process took an unexpected turn. A staff member assigned to assist an MP found herself at the center of a serious legal case after a document meant to end her secondment raised questions.
The form, submitted through official channels, appeared valid at first glance— complete with what looked like the MP’s signature. But when the MP was later contacted for confirmation, he denied ever approving or signing it. An investigation followed, tracing the document back to the office email system, which the employee had access to during that period.
Emails
As details emerged, witnesses spoke of emails sent days earlier asking about the procedure to end secondments, and of an office phone that had remained with the employee during that time. Concerns deepened when it was revealed that messages linked to the process had been deleted.
The employee admitted to filling out the form but insisted she had not forged the signature, claiming the MP himself had submitted it. However, a forensic expert later confirmed the signature had been imitated by someone else, though it could not be conclusively proven who wrote it.
Case
Now before the High Criminal Court, the case has moved to its final stage. What began as a simple administrative step has turned into a complex legal question of trust, responsibility, and authenticity.
