Surfers to fly in Bahrain

A kitesurfing competition will be held in Amwaj Island this weekend, organizers announced. For the second consecutive year in Bahrain, kitesurfers from across the region would gather at Amwaj Islands to participate in the only regional amateur kitesurfing competition.
The competition ‘Red Bull Kite The Waj’ will be held from the June 4 to 6. Ruben Lenten, International Red Bull athlete and renowned freestyle kitesurfer known for his megaloop signature move, will oversee and judge the participants.
Sixteen teams of two riders each will compete head to head to become the ultimate winners.
The judging would be based on how impressively each participant uses his body and mind. In the first round, riders will be judged based on air time, whereas in the second round, participants will have to display the best of their grab tricks and rotations to impress the judes. In the last round, the participants will be judged on their best and signature tricks.
