Investigation Continues into Detainee Death Case

MANAMA: The Special Investigation Unit announced that on March 27, 2026, it monitored social media reports regarding the death of a detainee. On the same day, the unit also received an official notification from the Inspector General of the National Intelligence Agency concerning the same incident.
In line with its legal mandate and authority, the unit immediately initiated procedures, launching a broad, multi-track investigation to determine the full circumstances surrounding the death. This includes reviewing all measures taken regarding the deceased from the time of arrest, examining official documents, video recordings, witness testimonies, and all available physical and technical evidence.
The investigation's objective is to establish any criminal responsibility and ensure accountability for anyone found to be involved, in accordance with the law.
The unit confirmed that investigations are ongoing and reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, stating it will announce the findings as soon as the inquiry is completed.
