Bahrain Discusses Satellite 813 and Sustainable Development

The Bahrain Space Agency represented the Kingdom of Bahrain at the 12th session of the Arab Space Cooperation Group, held in Muscat, Oman, alongside the second edition of the Middle East Space Conference.

The meetings brought together heads of space agencies from the Arab member states, senior guests, and a wide range of experts and officials in the space sector. The session reviewed the implementation of key recommendations from the 11th meeting, aimed at strengthening Arab space cooperation and supporting sustainable development through the application of space technologies.

Dr. Mohammed Ibrahim Al-Asiri, CEO of the Bahrain Space Agency, who led Bahrain’s delegation, stated that the meeting included presentations of the latest developments and proposals from the 14 member countries. Discussions also covered the outcomes of working group meetings, which aim to foster joint Arab initiatives in the space sector through integrated projects that support development across member states, as well as capacity-building in space sciences.

He added that Bahrain presented its latest achievements since the 11th session, highlighting progress in various sectors related to space projects, research, studies, and applications.

Bahrain’s delegation also participated in discussions on ways to enhance joint Arab space efforts, maximize the benefits of space sciences, and contribute to achieving sustainable development goals, including potential uses of the Arab Satellite 813.

Al-Asiri concluded by expressing sincere thanks and appreciation to Oman’s Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology for its outstanding efforts in organizing and managing the event, ensuring continued Arab cooperation and the growth of the space sector in the region.
