Oil and Environment Minister Signs Bahrain–China Agreement on Fish Farming and Fisheries
Bahrain’s Supreme Council for Environment and the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China have signed an executive agreement to strengthen cooperation in fish farming, aquaculture, and fisheries in the Kingdom.
The agreement is part of the fifth phase of the technical cooperation programme between Bahrain and China. It aims to enhance joint work in environmental protection, food security, and sustainable development.
The agreement was signed on behalf of Bahrain by Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak bin Daina, Minister of Oil and Environment and Special Envoy for Climate Affairs. The signing ceremony was attended by Ni Ruchi, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Bahrain, who handed over the agreement signed by China’s Minister of Commerce, Wang Wentao.
Dr. bin Daina said the agreement reflects Bahrain’s national efforts to strengthen food security and develop fish resources. He also highlighted the strong historical ties, friendship, and strategic cooperation between Bahrain and China.
He explained that the project aims to develop Bahrain’s aquaculture sector by establishing an integrated fish farming facility using modern technologies. The project will support technology transfer, build national expertise, and promote environmental sustainability, contributing to the protection of natural resources and sustainable development goals.
For his part, the Chinese Ambassador expressed pride in the level of cooperation between the two countries. He said the agreement marks an advanced stage of partnership in the field of aquaculture and reaffirmed China’s commitment to supporting the project by providing technical expertise and advanced technologies.
