MP Proposes Easier Procedures for Minors During Legal Disputes
MP Jalal Kazem has submitted a proposal calling for Bahraini or foreign mothers, as well as grandparents, to be allowed to complete all government-related procedures for minor children when a court case or legal dispute is ongoing.
The proposal aims to make it easier to handle essential matters for minors and to prevent delays that could affect their interests. It would allow mothers or grandparents to carry out procedures with government authorities, including issuing passports, birth certificates, residency documents, and other basic services, during the period of a legal dispute.
According to the proposal, the move is intended to protect the rights of children guaranteed under the Constitution of the Kingdom of Bahrain, particularly access to healthcare and education. It also seeks to ensure that important and urgent procedures are not disrupted while cases are still under review by the courts.
The explanatory note added that the proposal would help maintain family and psychological stability and ensure that minors’ affairs are handled smoothly and efficiently until a final court ruling is issued.
