Ma’an Programme’s 15-Year Milestone Highlighted During NPRA Visit

Manama : Shaikh Hisham bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs (NPRA) and Chairman of the “Ma’an” Programme Committee to Combat Violence and Addiction, visited the Ma’an Research and Training Centre on the occasion of the programme’s 15th anniversary.
Shaikh Hisham congratulated the Ma’an team and praised the programme’s achievements as part of the National Plan to Promote the Spirit of Belonging to the Nation and Reinforce the Values of Nationalism, highlighting its role in preventing violence and addiction and strengthening community partnership. He said the progress achieved reflects the strategic vision of General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior, in enhancing community security through structured, scientifically based educational programmes.
During the visit, he reviewed a presentation on the programme’s outcomes, including the development of preventive curricula and awareness content delivered to students at various educational levels. Ali Ahmed Ameeni, Director of the Crime Prevention Directorate and Director of the Ma’an Programme, presented findings showing increased awareness among beneficiaries and a decline in several negative behaviours, alongside the role of Community Policing in schools through interactive awareness initiatives.
Shaikh Hisham was also briefed on the Centre’s research activities, academic partnerships with local and international universities, including the University of North Carolina and the DARE organisation, as well as future plans and regional and international participation. He concluded by stressing that the 15-year milestone marks a new phase focused on updating curricula, expanding implementation and strengthening cooperation to ensure the programme’s long-term impact on community security.
