Higher Education Council Hosts QS Rankings Workshop

Manama:The Higher Education Council, in collaboration with QS, the UK-based organisation specialising in global university rankings, organised a workshop focused on the data submission process for the 2027 QS World University Rankings. The event brought together representatives from public and private universities across the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The workshop provided detailed guidance on submission procedures and requirements, while emphasising the importance of data accuracy and quality due to their direct influence on ranking results. The initiative aimed to support institutions in improving their engagement with international evaluation frameworks.

Secretary General of the Higher Education Council, Dr. Diana Abdulkarim Al Jahromi, said the workshop reflects ongoing efforts to help higher education institutions interact with global rankings in a systematic and sustainable way, contributing to continuous development and improved educational outcomes.

QS Regional Director Dr. Ashwin Fernandes underscored the value of participation in international rankings, noting their role in encouraging self-assessment and data-informed strategic planning, which in turn strengthens academic reputation.

The workshop builds on a memorandum of understanding previously signed between the Higher Education Council and QS, which focuses on enhancing the competitiveness of Bahrain’s higher education institutions, strengthening research and institutional capacities, and aligning academic performance with international standards and best practices.
