Tuition Hikes in Bahraini Kindergartens Depend on Educational Level, Ministry Approval
Dr. Fatima Al-Kooheji, member of the Women and Children Committee in the Shura Council, said that kindergarten jobs in Bahrain are influenced by supply and demand, similar to other businesses in the country. She explained that the Ministry of Education approves tuition fees based on information provided by the educational institution, including factors such as the building, teachers’ qualifications, and the educational level offered at the kindergarten.
Regarding kindergarten teacher salaries, Dr. Al-Kooheji noted that pay depends on the teacher’s qualifications. Teachers with a high school diploma earn less than those holding a bachelor’s degree. She added that the “Tamkeen” program supports kindergarten teacher salaries, but this assistance is limited to a specific period.
On the topic of raising salaries, Dr. Al-Kooheji clarified that educational institutions cannot increase tuition fees without the Ministry of Education’s approval. The ministry requires that any fee increase be linked to improving the educational level offered at the kindergarten.
