Record passenger numbers at Bahrain International Airport

Bahrain International Airport saw eight million passengers pass through its terminals between January and November 2025, according to the latest monthly figures released by the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications. During the same period, the airport recorded over 97,000 aircraft movements.

August was the busiest month of the year, with 951,795 passengers and 9,029 arriving and departing flights. July also witnessed heavy traffic, with 865,753 passengers and 8,748 movements.

The year opened strongly in January with 812,527 passengers, followed by 736,625 in February, with arrivals and departures almost evenly split at 374,027 and 358,313 respectively. Aircraft movements in February reached 7,661, while over 48,000 flights crossed Bahraini airspace that month.

Passenger numbers dipped to their lowest in March, at 594,824, alongside 7,395 aircraft movements. Numbers then rose steadily: April recorded 808,793 passengers and 8,533 movements, May had 744,625 passengers and 8,568 movements, and June saw 780,771 passengers with 8,011 movements.

After the summer peak, September eased to 766,394 passengers and 8,377 movements, before October climbed again to 851,981 passengers and 8,532 movements.

Overflights continued to be significant, with more than 500,000 aircraft transiting Bahraini airspace during the first 11 months of 2025—averaging roughly 45,000 per month, with peaks in February, July, and August.

Cargo and airmail volumes handled at the airport exceeded 360,000 tonnes between January and No vem ber, covering inbound, out bound, and transit freight. Marc h, July, and October were particularly strong months, with transit cargo typically accounting for onethird to 40 per cent of total volumes, and inbound cargo surpassing outbound shipments overall.
