Bahrain is set to welcome much-awaited winter season

Winter in the Kingdom of Bahrain will officially begin on Sunday, December 21, 2025, according to astronomical calculations.
This year, a rare coincidence occurs as the Islamic months of Rajab, Shaaban, and Ramadan of 1447 AH will all fall during the winter season.
Astronomical researcher Mohammed Reda Al Asfoor explained that the first day of Rajab coincides with the start of the astronomical winter, while the end of Ramadan aligns with the end of winter and the beginning of spring, which also coincides with Eid al-Fitr on Friday, March 20, 2026.
“The beginning of Rajab marks the countdown to the blessed month of Ramadan, which this year will be entirely during the winter season,” Al Asfoor said.
He described the winter solstice, which occurs on December 21 at 6:03pm, Bahrain time, as the day when the sun reaches its southernmost point in the sky. “It will be the shortest day and longest night of the year, after which the sun begins its gradual northward movement,” he said.
