Arab Information Ministers Grant ICESCO Observer Membership

The Council of Arab Ministers of Information has decided to grant the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) observer membership in the Council, during its 55th session held yesterday, Wednesday, at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States in Cairo, Egypt.

Ambassador Ahmed Rashid Khattabi, Assistant Secretary-General and Head of the Media and Communication Sector at the Arab League, stated that the Council’s decision comes within the framework of expanding engagement with media actors in the Arab and Islamic worlds, and strengthening cooperation with organizations and bodies active in the media field, with the aim of exchanging expertise and benefiting from their experiences, plans, and programs in the areas of media and communication.

According to ICESCO’s official website, the Council now includes 20 organizations and unions working across various fields related to news, production, programming, audiovisual media, and the training of media professionals.
