Suspect Arrested for Online Luring of Minor
The Ministry of Interior has announced that the Child Protection in Cyberspace Unit at the General Directorate of Anti-Corruption, Economic and Electronic Security has arrested a 46-year-old man for luring a 15-year-old girl through a social media platform and committing an offence against her.
The unit explained that immediately upon receiving the report, officers launched investigations, gathered information, and collected evidence, which led to identifying and apprehending the suspect. Legal procedures have been taken in preparation for referring the case to the Public Prosecution.
The Child Protection in Cyberspace Unit emphasized the importance of parents closely monitoring their children’s online activities and educating them about the risks associated with social media and other digital platforms. Parents are urged to ensure the safety of the content their children access and to guide them on how to respond appropriately to any threats or risks they may encounter.
The unit encouraged parents or guardians to report suspicious online activities that may endanger children’s safety by visiting the unit in person, calling the direct hotline at 33523300, emailing cpcu@interior.gov.bh, contacting the General Directorate hotline 992, or reporting through the “Hakomati” application.
