Bahrain’s land area reaches 787.79 sq. kms.

Bahrain’s land area stands at 787.79 square kilometres, up by about one square kilometre on 2023.

Territorial waters are put at roughly 7,481 square kilometres. Both figures come from the Survey and Land Registration Bureau’s latest field survey, published on its Open Data Platform.

The water figure has barely moved since 2016, holding near 7,480 square kilometres. Land has inched up by about eight square kilometres over nine years and by 4.8 square kilometres in five years, from about 783 square kilometres in 2019.

The totals cover the main island of Bahrain and the key outlying islands of Muharraq, Asry, Sitra, Jidda and Umm an Nasan. By governorate, the Southern is the largest at 488.77 square kilometres, equal to 62 per cent of the Kingdom’s area.

Next come the Northern at 145.69 square kilometres, the Capital at 79.23 square kilometres and Muharraq at 74.1 square kilometres.
