A court has ordered a man to pay BD 7,000 in compensation to an assault victim who was left with a 12 per cent permanent disability. The defendant was also directed to cover court fees and costs, BD 90 for the medical committees’ deposit, and BD 500 in lawyers’ fees.
The civil judgment followed an earlier criminal case in which the defendant was prosecuted and fined BD 100. Court records show that ruling has become final and unchallenged, forming the basis for the civil court’s decision.
According to case papers, the defendant assaulted the claimant, causing multiple injuries and lasting impairment. The victim, represented by lawyer Salah Al Jaber, sought compensation for material and moral damages, including medical expenses and loss of income during more than five months of recovery.
The court, after reviewing the medical reports and the final criminal verdict, ruled in favour of the claimant and ordered the defendant to pay the stated amounts.
