The First High Criminal Court has taken up a human trafficking case involving an Asian girl under the age of 16, who was allegedly forced into prostitution by a compatriot after being deceived with promises of a lucrative overseas job.

Court files reveal that the victim travelled to Bahrain believing she had secured employment arranged by the second defendant. Upon arrival, the second and third defendants met her at the airport, took her to a flat, confiscated her passport, and locked her inside.

The victim was then forced to receive clients, with the first defendant bringing customers and collecting payments from the second and third defendants. Her attempt to escape was thwarted when the first defendant caught and returned her to the flat.

During questioning, the first defendant admitted that the victim had been brought to the hotel where he worked and housed in a room rented for prostitution, along with other girls.

The Public Prosecution charged the defendants with trafficking a minor, coercion, and exploitation for prostitution in March 2025. The court has scheduled a hearing for November 9.
