Foreign Minister Meets UN Secretary-General in New York

Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, met today with UN Secretary-General António Guterres at the United Nations headquarters in New York, on the sidelines of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly.

During the meeting, the Foreign Minister conveyed the greetings and appreciation of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to the Secretary-General. He also relayed their best wishes for his continued success in strengthening international cooperation and advancing the UN’s goals of promoting peace, security, and sustainable development worldwide.

For his part, Secretary-General Guterres asked Dr. Al Zayani to convey his warm regards to His Majesty the King and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, wishing Bahrain further progress and prosperity. He praised the cooperation between Bahrain and the United Nations in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals, expressing hope for continued collaboration.

The meeting also reviewed ways to enhance joint cooperation in support of Bahrain’s efforts to achieve the UN’s objectives, alongside discussions on issues of common interest.

The meeting was attended by Shaikh Abdullah bin Rashid Al Khalifa, Bahrain’s Ambassador to the United States; Ambassador Jamal Fares Al Rowaiei, Permanent Representative of Bahrain to the United Nations in New York; Ambassador Khalid Yousif Al Jalahma, Undersecretary for Political Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; and Ambassador Shaikh Abdullah bin Ali Al Khalifa, Director-General of Bilateral Relations at the Ministry.
