Bahrain Hosts U.S. Congressional Delegation to Showcase Labor Market Initiatives
The Bahrain Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) welcomed a delegation of staff from the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives at the Migrant Workers Protection Centre, with representatives from the U.S. Department of State in attendance.
The delegation was briefed on Bahrain’s initiatives to promote sustainable labor practices and safeguard the rights of all parties involved. Among the key programs highlighted was the enhanced Wage Protection System, which ensures that all workers’ salaries are paid electronically through financial institutions linked to the LMRA system.
The visitors also received a detailed presentation on Bahrain’s efforts to combat human trafficking, led by the Migrant Workers Protection Centre. The centre provides comprehensive services including preventive support, legal guidance, and temporary shelter for victims or those at risk of exploitation.
The visit underscores Bahrain’s ongoing commitment to fostering a safe and fair work environment while strengthening international collaboration on labor rights and human trafficking prevention.
