Ambassador Al-Jalahma Stresses Collective Action for Sustainable Development at UN

Ambassador Khalid Yousif Al-Jalahma, Undersecretary for Political Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, participated in a high-level meeting of Global South countries with shared objectives, organized by the Permanent Mission of the Republic of India to the United Nations in New York. The meeting was attended by H.E. Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Minister of External Affairs of the Republic of India, on the sidelines of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly.

During the meeting, Ambassador Al-Jalahma emphasized that empowering Global South countries is a cornerstone of international development and stability. He highlighted the interconnected global challenges that require greater solidarity and collective cooperation to achieve comprehensive development and maintain international peace and security. He also underscored the importance of collaboration among friendly nations to enhance dialogue, exchange expertise, expand partnerships, address economic, humanitarian, and environmental crises, and open new avenues for sustainable development.

Ambassador Al-Jalahma reiterated Bahrain’s commitment to supporting international initiatives and activating multilateral partnerships, stressing that solidarity and joint action are essential to achieving shared goals.

The meeting was also attended by Mr. Hatem Abdulhameed Hatem, Director of the Organizations Sector at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
