At a dialogue with young participants of the third edition of the Future Bet program, Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA) Chief Executive Officer Sara Ahmed Buhiji underscored that building human capacity remains at the core of Bahrain’s tourism strategy. She affirmed that investing in skills and talent is the cornerstone of sustainable growth and qualitative transformation in the sector.
The session, hosted by the Bahrain Institute for Political Development, brought together program participants, BTEA officials, and institute representatives including Dr. Ebtisam Al Dallal, a member of the Board of Trustees, and Eman Faisal Janahi, Executive Director.
Ms. Buhiji outlined how the BTEA supports both domestic and international tourism while developing infrastructure and hosting major events. She linked these initiatives to Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030, stressing the role of tourism in providing quality job opportunities, attracting investment, and supporting entrepreneurship.
The CEO highlighted the 2022–2026
Tourism Strategy, structured around four goals: raising Bahrain’s profile as a global hub, increasing the sector’s GDP contribution, expanding target markets, and diversifying the tourism product. She noted that the authority manages programs and initiatives that promote Bahrain worldwide as a destination.
Youth engagement
Central to her message was the need to involve youth in driving tourism’s next phase. She called for raising awareness among young people about the future opportunities available in the sector, describing them as key catalysts for innovation and leadership.
