The General Secretariat of Bahrain’s Shura Council has emerged as a model for modern governance practices, spotlighting its internal success in promoting quality of life at work and embracing AI-led services.
The council’s internal operations, often away from the public eye, are now being held up as best-practice examples within government performance evaluation circles. Its practices were recently reviewed in a benchmarking session organised by Bahrain’s Government Performance Excellence team, with a focus on both employee wellbeing and digital transformation.
Human-centred culture
From prioritising mental health to supporting a balanced work environment, the council’s human resources policies were highlighted as exemplary. Officials noted how the Shura Secretariat builds a workplace culture that supports creativity, loyalty and personal development, especially by investing in motivation and engagement.
Programmes focusing on employee happiness, team cohesion and knowledge transfer were also presented as part of its wider institutional development goals.
AI-driven transformation
The Secretariat’s digital initiatives, particularly its integration of artificial intelligence, were also showcased. These included smart tools to streamline internal workflows, digitise knowledge resources and optimise support services for council operations.
Representatives from other government bodies were briefed on how the Secretariat uses technology to enhance administrative agility, improve access to data and promote efficiency, all aligned with Bahrain’s national performance frameworks.
Sharing success
The session drew participation from the Government Communication Centre and other national institutions committed to public sector excellence. It was described as an opportunity to exchange ideas, foster innovation and spread effective strategies across Bahrain’s governance ecosystem.
By placing both people and technology at the heart of its operations, the Shura Council Secretariat is positioning itself as a quiet leader in building a resilient and responsive institutional culture.
