Kingdom hosts first-ever training course on archiving and management

The Bahrain Library and Information Society, in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Development, held the Kingdom’s first-ever specialised training course on archiving titled “Introduction to Archiving and Its Management” on June 22, 2025.

The course took place in the lecture hall of the Bahrain National Museum, under the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities.

Led by Professor Sulaiman bin Saleh Al-Rashdi, an expert in administrative and documentation sciences from the Sultanate of Oman, the course provided comprehensive insights into modern archiving practices and management techniques.

Participants were introduced to the fundamental role of archiving in preserving and organising institutional knowledge, alongside a comparative overview of traditional and digital archiving methods.

Topics

Key topics included the use of modern software in archive management, enabling efficient data retrieval and enhancing institutional performance. The course emphasised the growing importance of archiving in both public and private sector operations, offering practical tools to improve information flow and organizational efficiency.

More than 60 participants from various governmental and non-governmental institutions attended the session.

The participants praised the quality and relevance of the content and actively engaged in discussions, exchanging insights and addressing common challenges in the field of archiving
