MP Dr. Hisham Ahmed Al-Ashiri has praised the decision of His Excellency Attorney General Dr. Ali bin Fadhel Al-Buainain to establish a dedicated Drug Crimes Prosecution office, describing it as a significant and strategic step toward strengthening institutional specialisation in the fight against drug-related crimes.
Dr. Al-Ashiri said the move represents a qualitative shift in addressing the security and health challenges posed by the spread of narcotics, adding that the creation of a specialised prosecution reflects Bahrain’s serious commitment to combating this growing threat.
He noted that assigning a dedicated unit to handle drug offenses is a forward-looking initiative that enhances national efforts to dismantle criminal networks and cut off sources of narcotics through more professional and technically advanced legal mechanisms.
Community security
“The establishment of the Drug Crimes Prosecution Office will not only raise the efficiency of the justice system,” Al-Ashiri stated, “but also reinforce the principles of prevention, decisiveness, and professional handling of transnational crimes — thereby strengthening community security at both national and international levels.”
He reaffirmed his full support for the initiative and emphasized the importance of bolstering related legislative and regulatory frameworks to empower the Public Prosecution to carry out its responsibilities with maximum effectiveness.
