Bahrain strongly condemned a recent attack by Iran’s Revolutionary Guard that targeted the sovereignty of its Gulf neighbor, Qatar, calling it a "blatant violation" of international law and the United Nations Charter.

The remarks were made by Bahrain's Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Jamal Fares Al-Ruwaei, during an open session of the UN Security Council held under the theme of "Maintaining International Peace and Security," chaired by the Cooperative Republic of Guyana.

In his address, Ambassador Al-Ruwaei expressed Bahrain’s firm position against any breach of sovereignty in the region, stressing the need for dialogue and diplomacy as the only means to resolve regional crises. He warned that continued escalations could threaten regional stability and international peace.

The ambassador also reiterated Bahrain’s unwavering support for the Palestinian people’s right to live in peace, freedom, and dignity. He backed efforts to secure a ceasefire in Gaza, ensure the release of hostages and detainees, and allow unhindered humanitarian aid to reach civilians—along with efforts to rebuild Gaza.

Ambassador Al-Ruwaei emphasized the importance of achieving fair and sustainable development, as well as global cooperation to prevent conflicts and promote tolerance, shared living, and dialogue. He called for a comprehensive approach that tackles the root causes of violence and instability—such as extremism, hatred, and intolerance—stating this is key to lasting peace and development.

Marking the 80th anniversary of the signing of the UN Charter, Bahrain reaffirmed its commitment to multilateral cooperation and its partnership with the United Nations to address global challenges, promote peace, and improve the lives of people around the world.

"This is a time to come together," said Ambassador Al-Ruwaei. "To work for peace, support the rule of law, and safeguard the dignity and future of all peoples."
