Bahrain Declares Public Holiday for Islamic New Year on June 26

His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, has issued a circular announcing a public holiday to mark the beginning of the Islamic New Year 1447.

According to the announcement, all ministries, public institutions, and government bodies across the Kingdom will be closed on Thursday, June 26, 2025, in observance of the first day of Muharram, the start of the Hijri year 1447.

The circular reflects the Kingdom’s commitment to honoring Islamic traditions and giving citizens and residents time to observe the spiritual significance of the occasion.
