The Mahfooza Al-Zayani Humanitarian Award honored the nation’s most inspiring figures in community service, celebrating outstanding contributions to humanitarian work in Bahrain. The prestigious accolade, held in a grand ceremony, highlighted the power of giving and the impact of dedicated individuals and teams striving to make a difference.

Recognizing Excellence in Humanitarian Work

Among the evening’s highlights was the posthumous recognition of Sheikha Lulwa bint Mohammed Al Khalifa as Humanitarian Personality of the Year for her enduring legacy in philanthropy and social welfare.

The award for Outstanding Student in Humanitarian Work was presented to the IMPACT TEAM from Al Hekma International School, recognizing their dedication to charitable initiatives and social engagement.

The Top Winners

The competition was fierce, with various teams showcasing their commitment to humanitarian causes:

  • First Place: Sou Khair Team – Ibn Khuldoon School
  • Second Place: Be Prepared Team
  • Third Place: Paramedics Academy Volunteer Team

Each of these teams has played a pivotal role in community service, demonstrating remarkable innovation and compassion in their efforts to create lasting change.

Sheikha Hind Praises Youth Involvement

Speaking exclusively to TDT, Sheikha Hind bint Salman Al Khalifa expressed her admiration for the young participants: “I’m really proud that this initiative came as an invitation to the youth to show their talent and their eagerness to participate in social work as well as serve the community. I’m very impressed with their approach and the talent they are proudly displaying—they truly deserve this award.”

A Night of Inspiration

The event also featured a moving speech by Zayed Rashid Al-Zayani, Director General of the Mahfooza Al-Zayani Humanitarian Award, commending the honorees for their selflessness and dedication to serving society. Beyond the awards, the ceremony coincided with a groundbreaking announcement: Bahrain has successfully completed the first-ever international case of sickle cell anemia treatment using CRISPR gene-editing technology. This medical milestone, revealed during a press conference by the Ministry of Health and the Royal Medical Services, cements Bahrain’s position at the forefront of global healthcare innovation. With its commitment to both humanitarian excellence and groundbreaking medical achievements, Bahrain continues to shine as a beacon of progress and compassion.
