HM the King first supporter of IronMan race
Supported by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the IronMan 70.3 Bahrain Championship and the final stage of Nasser Bin Hamad Triple Crown Triathlon will be held today with the participation of 1100 local, regional and international triathletes.
His Majesty the King’s Representative for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee President HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, who is also competing in the championship, said yesterday that “His Majesty the King’s unlimited support resulted in making Bahrain the home of triathlon sports in the Middle East.”
“It is a great honour that the first supporter of the race is His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. This would sure be a strong motivation to everyone in the race to spare no efforts in making it a successful and worth-remembering one,” HH Shaikh Nasser commented.
He added: “This generous patronage of His Majesty the King confirms His Majesty’s keenness on supporting sports events and fulfils his vision of the importance of sports in the development of nations and promoting the Kingdom of Bahrain in all fields.”
The championship will consist of three stages, beginning with a swimming race in the seaside of Khalifa bin Salman Park in Hidd, and will include a cycling race from Al Fateh Corniche to Bahrain International Circuit, where it will be concluded by a running race.
