Spain PM Pedro Sánchez Calls Snap Election for November 29

Madrid: Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has called an early general election for November 29, seeking a new mandate following his minority government's severe legislative setback over emergency housing measures. The decision comes amid rising public outrage over Spain's home affordability issue and nationwide rallies.
Last week, Parliament rejected two government housing decrees aimed at lowering evictions and limiting real estate speculation. Sánchez stated that the election was necessary to rekindle public support and achieve a bigger parliamentary majority to carry out his plan.
The emergency election would push Spain to the polls months sooner than expected, with Sánchez confronting a fractured political environment and criticism for his government's restricted capacity to implement legislation.
