Bahrain junior player Haider Maroum reclaimed the national nine-ball billiards title after defeating Ibrahim Al Qaed 11-9 in the final of the fourth ranking competition of 2026.
The victory avenged his 11-8 defeat to Al Qaed in the third ranking event and lifted him to the top of the Bahrain players’ rankings, ahead of his rival and third-placed Samer Kamal.
The final remained closely contested, with both players relying on tactical safety play. A costly error from Al Qaed on the seventh ball in the penultimate rack hurt his chances of forcing a decider before Maroum produced an excellent snooker in the final rack and sealed the title.
The triumph completed an impressive turnaround after he had lost 9-3 to Al Qaed earlier in the competition.
Kamal also enjoyed a strong run, overcoming several leading players before falling 9-5 to the eventual champion in the semi-finals.
Bahrain Billiards and Darts Federation board member Mohammed Yusuf presented Maroum with the winner’s trophy, while Al Qaed received silver. Bronze medals went to Kamal and Hussain Maroum.
