US Urges Europe to Work Together as Diesel Prices Surge
The United States on Thursday called on European countries to cooperate with Washington on fuel supply issues amid soaring diesel prices.
The comments came after reports that President Donald Trump’s administration had urged European Union governments to release diesel reserves in an effort to ease rising prices.
A US official told AFP that working with Washington would be in Europe’s best interest as both sides pursue different ways to increase the supply of refined fuel products and reduce costs for consumers.
The statement comes as European fuel markets face pressure from higher prices and concerns over supply.
