Ministerial Committee for Development Projects and Infrastructure convened its 316th session under Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, with national resilience and citizen welfare dominating the agenda following recent regional tensions.
Top of the discussion was recognition for the Crown Prince and Prime Minister's field visits to Sitra and Hidd, where he assessed residents' needs firsthand, alongside stops at Bapco Refining and Aluminium Bahrain (Alba) to honour the national workforce that kept energy and industrial operations running without interruption.
Compensation for citizens affected by the Iranian attacks featured prominently, with the committee praising progress on repairing damaged homes and vehicles and supporting impacted families through the recovery process.
To tighten regulatory oversight, members welcomed the launch of a new Environmental and Public Health Crimes Unit, designed to strengthen enforcement across environmental protection and public health standards.
Infrastructure upgrades were also on the table: the committee reviewed plans to modernise wastewater systems, boost road safety through improved signage and markings, and scale up sustainable practices for managing used cooking oil.
On the roads, officials pointed to progress on new turning lanes along National Charter Street as part of broader network improvements, while also reviewing proposals to redevelop Manama Central Market in response to rising commercial demand.
Rounding out the session, the committee examined the continued rollout of digital government services and preparations to adopt Building Information Modelling (BIM) technology ahead of planned upgrades to the "Benayat" building permit platform.
