US Issues Middle East Travel Alert for Citizens

US embassies across the Middle East have advised American citizens to prepare for a possible deterioration in the regional security situation, urging them to consider leaving the region or be ready to depart if tensions escalate further.

The security alerts, published on Saturday by US embassies in Bahrain, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, follow remarks by US President Donald Trump on Friday warning that Iran could face a "very hard" response.

The advisory comes as hostilities between the United States and Iran continue, despite a brief ceasefire that temporarily eased fighting before clashes resumed. The conflict has disrupted daily life across the region and added uncertainty to global energy markets.

The alerts advised Americans to remain vigilant, monitor airline schedules and comply with instructions issued by local authorities.

"Americans in the region should consider departing, or be prepared to depart should there be escalation," the advisory stated.

It also warned travellers to expect possible flight cancellations, temporary airspace closures and wider travel disruptions.

Country-specific guidance was also issued. In Jordan, US citizens were advised to avoid military installations that have recently come under Iranian missile attacks. In Israel, Americans were urged to identify the nearest bomb shelter and remain prepared for emergency situations.

The US Embassy in Jerusalem described Iran as "unpredictable," citing recent attacks carried out without warning and the expansion of strikes into areas not previously targeted.

Meanwhile, the US Embassy in Beirut confirmed that it remains under "ordered departure" status, with non-essential US government personnel continuing to operate from outside Lebanon.

Iran Warns Against US Actions

Iran responded sharply to the US warnings, accusing Washington of increasing regional tensions.

Ali Abdollahi, head of Iran's military central command, said any country providing protection or support to the United States would face serious consequences.

Separately, Mohammad Mokhber, an adviser to Iran's Supreme Leader, warned against attacks on Iranian infrastructure, saying Tehran would respond based on "the logic of history" rather than conventional military calculations.
