New York, United States: Boeing reports loss on costs from US presidential plane after the aerospace giant posted a larger-than-expected quarterly loss, weighed down by an additional $280 million in expenses tied to the delayed Air Force One programme.
Despite the setback, Boeing said stronger aircraft deliveries and improved performance across its commercial and defence businesses drove an eight percent increase in revenue to $24.6 billion.
The company reported a second-quarter net loss of $428 million, with the presidential aircraft programme continuing to face production delays and rising certification costs.
Boeing also said regulatory certification for its new 737 MAX and 777 aircraft remains on schedule. Chief Executive Kelly Ortberg said the company was making steady progress in restoring trust after years of safety crises, adding that improving operational momentum and higher deliveries signal Boeing is moving in the right direction despite ongoing challenges.
