ICC removes its Chief prosecutor over sexual misconduct allegations

Member states of the International Criminal Court voted by a large majority to remove Chief Prosecutor Karim Khan from office following allegations of serious sexual misconduct.
The decision was announced by the governing Assembly of States Parties after an inquiry concluded that the 56-year-old British barrister engaged in serious misconduct and a breach of duty involving a female aide.
Khan, who was temporarily suspended before the vote, has steadfastly denied all allegations. His legal team criticized the vote as procedurally unfair and announced plans to challenge the decision legally.
Khan is the first chief prosecutor to be ousted in the history of the International Criminal Court. His removal comes at a critical juncture for the global tribunal as it faces heightened political pressure over its high-profile arrest warrants and ongoing international investigations.
