CENTCOM says attacks target Iranian capabilities threatening Strait of Hormuz shipping
US forces launched a new round of strikes against Iran on Monday, targeting military capabilities used to attack commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) said.
CENTCOM said the strikes began at 4 p.m. ET “at the direction of the Commander in Chief” and were aimed at further degrading Iran’s ability to threaten maritime traffic in the strategic waterway.
The Strait of Hormuz, a key global energy route, has remained a focus of rising tensions amid escalating hostilities between Washington and Tehran.
