UAE will officially launch its first passenger train service this month, marking a transformative moment for national transport connectivity. The introductory operational phase will connect Abu Dhabi and Fujairah on June 30, realizing a long-awaited infrastructure milestone.
Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Shaikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed, who inaugurated the Abu Dhabi station, stated that the project reflects the UAE’s vision for a fully integrated transport network. This strategic integration is designed to enhance inter-emirate connectivity and support sustainable economic growth by enabling the efficient movement of people and goods.
Tickets are available for purchase starting this Tuesday. Passengers can select between standard and premium class options, with fares priced at 55 dirhams ($15) and 120 dirhams ($32) respectively.
The fleet comprises 13 trains, each equipped to carry up to 400 passengers. Looking forward, the network is set for further expansion, with the Dubai station opening on September 30 and the Sharjah station launching on March 30, 2027.
This project distinguishes itself from previous unmaterialized plans, such as the 2016 Hyperloop proposal, and aligns with the UAE’s broader commitment to efficient national urban development.
