Bahawalpur: Five doctors at Bahawal Victoria Hospital (BVH) of Pakistan have been suspended after a newborn reportedly cracked his arm during delivery, prompting an investigation into potential medical negligence.

The suspended staff include a senior registrar, two postgraduate trainee doctors, and two female medical officers. According to hospital officials, disciplinary action was taken immediately after the incident was reported, while the newborn was treated in the surgical department and the wounded arm was cast in plaster.

The hospital's medical superintendent initiated a formal inquiry and appointed a committee to look into the circumstances surrounding the delivery process. The panel has been asked to present its conclusions within 24 hours.

The incident has raised concerns about patient safety and the quality of maternal healthcare at the hospital, with officials stating that further action will be based on the findings of the inquiry.
