Tehran: An Iranian state television anchor shocked viewers by firing an AK-47 assault rifle during a live news broadcast, aiming directly at a United Arab Emirates (UAE) flag displayed on the studio screen.

The dramatic incident occurred on the state-run Ofogh channel during a live firearm training segment.

A masked Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) officer demonstrated weapon handling, including loading a magazine and aligning sights, to host Hossein Hosseini.

After chambering a round, Hosseini pointed the rifle at the digital UAE flag behind the anchor desk and fired.

The broadcast coincides with a massive, state-backed wartime mobilization campaign across Iran amid escalating regional hostilities involving the United States and Israel.

Along with television segments showing presenters brandishing rifles, public gun kiosks have emerged in Tehran city squares to offer civilians basic light-weapons training, signaling heightened war readiness.
