Police Investigate Arson Attacks in London
Police in London are investigating a series of arson incidents after a group with alleged links to Iran claimed responsibility, though authorities say the claims have not been verified.
The group, identified as Harakat Ashab al-Yamin al-Islamiya, shared videos online linking itself to three separate attacks in north London. The incidents include an attempted arson at a media office, an attack on a synagogue, and a previous fire targeting ambulances belonging to a Jewish charity.
Police confirmed that three suspects—a 16-year-old and two men aged 19 and 21—were arrested following an attempted arson attack on a building associated with Volant Media in the Finchley area. An ignited object was thrown at the site but caused no injuries or major damage.
Investigations are also ongoing into an attack on Finchley Reform Synagogue and an earlier incident in Golders Green, where several ambulances operated by Hatzola were set on fire. Authorities have made multiple arrests in connection with these cases.
Officials said none of the incidents have been officially classified as terrorism at this stage, but counter-terrorism police are leading the investigations due to the nature of the locations and potential links between the attacks.
Police have also warned that some individuals may be influenced or paid to carry out crimes on behalf of external groups, adding that all possible motives are being examined as inquiries continue.
