EU Launches Antitrust Probe with Raids on Chocolate Company
The European Commission has carried out surprise inspections at the premises of a major chocolate confectionery company as part of an investigation into suspected anti-competitive practices.
The raids, conducted on April 13, took place in two countries within the European Union. Authorities have not disclosed the name of the company or the specific locations involved.
According to officials, the action is linked to concerns over potential violations of antitrust rules, including possible cartel activity and practices that could restrict fair competition in the market.
Such unannounced inspections, often referred to as “dawn raids,” are a standard tool used by the Commission to gather evidence in competition-related investigations.
The European Commission has not yet confirmed whether any formal charges will follow, stating that the inquiry remains ongoing.
